After having produced over 60 clinics at
the NRS Training Center with over 1200 students,
we have seen the great need for a team roper’s
clinic that is dedicated purely to improving
a roper’s horsemanship skills. We
have seen that the best ropers are also
the best horsemen. We believe that a roper
should spend an equal amount of time and
effort becoming a great horseman as he/she
does in practicing their roping.
From
our experiences at the training center
we have realized that many people confuse
“gentle” with “broke”
when it comes to their horse. A “broke”
horse is not just a horse that is quiet
in the box, won’t spook, and is safe
for your kids to ride. A “broke”
horse works while collected, moves off your
leg, pulls steers with the correct body
position, squares up on the corner properly
and much more. Will your horse bend and
flex willingly, giving his nose wherever
you ask? Will he do a “turn on the
forehand?” A “turn on the haunches?”
Can he sidepass? Will he back-up willingly
the length of the arena while never pushing
on the noseband? Will he break from the
box in whichever lead you ask? Can he perform
a flying lead change? These are all things
that great rope horses can do and, more
importantly, these are the things that
great horseman teach their horses to do.
Sign
up for this clinic and you will greatly
improve your roping through becoming
a better horseman. And yes, you will
get to rope. Approximately 80% of the
clinic will be spent without a rope in
your hand, but we will finish each day
roping cattle, putting to use our newly
learned horsemanship skills.
This clinic is also great for non-ropers. Every aspect of what we teach at this
clinic applies to any horse discipline. Whether you run barrels, team pen, work
on a ranch or simply ride for pleasure, this clinic will greatly improve your
performance and your enjoyment with horses.
