Krece HARRIS
NRS Training Team Roping Horses Clinic

In response to repeated asking from our students we have added a clinic specifically designed to teach you how to train your own team roping horse. Great rope horses are hard to find. We preach to our beginner students to find an older, seasoned, gentle, bomb-proof horse to learn on. We hear everyone complain about the perils of driving all over and trying other roper’s supposedly “awesome” horses that for some reason the owner can’t get along with. Why not learn how to make your own? We still wouldn’t recommend this to the beginner, but ultimately the only way a roper will can stay on good horses is to always be in the process of making your next horse. That is what we do at NRS. We sell really nice rope horses at the NRS Training Center and we make each one. This clinic will walk you through the same process with your young horse that we go through with each of the great NRS horses on a daily basis. This will not be a colt starting clinic. Your horse should be at least 4 years old and already be broke. He/she should be somewhat gentle, pick up his leads on command, back up willingly, sidepass a little, and be in reasonably good shape. We will work on introducing the rope, logging, tracking, conditioning in the box, and begin to pattern the horse over the course of the clinic. You will go home understanding what it takes to turn a nice, broke, young gelding into a finished rope horse. Understand that it will take 6 months to 2 years for you to ultimately have a nice finished rope horse. We will end the clinic with a friendly competition to see who has done the best job with their horse. This clinic is a little more expensive than the other NRS clinics because we will only accept 10 students/horses. You may only bring one horse. We want everyone to have plenty of time to work with their horse and one of the main things in starting young horses is to take it slow.
