Back in the early 1990’s, Dee McCall and her son Dan began manufacturing wood for the tole industry under the name of McCall’s Country. One client asked the McCalls to build wooden crates that could be used to hold jar candles. As fate would have it, the wooden crates were built to hold the jars, but not all of the jars were the same size. That meant hundreds of crates were leftover. What most people may have seen as a problem, Dee and Dan McCall saw as a business opportunity. They decided to make their own highly scented candles to fill the crates. And that's where it all began. After exploring various containers, the now-famous Classic Jar Candle™ was created—with its decorative metal handle and rustic metal lid upon which the McCall's Country Canning logo is embossed. Because Dee is an artist, she has designed the labels since the very beginning and still does to this day. Creativity, exploration and experimentation are an important part of what we continue to do here at McCall’s. We create unique combinations of scents, waxes and other ingredients to produce strongly scented candles and special gourmet-scented candles unlike any other. We've recently released a line of soy candles. Of course, not stopping at candles, we also sell toffee made from a beloved family recipe.
