NRS World All Things WesternNRS Team Roping Barrier Set is just like what the pro’s use. These heavy-duty string barrier sets are approved for use in competitions in all associations. Will hold up to the hard use of a rodeo or perfect for practice in your own pen. Contains 1 steer-size neck rope, 1 box barrier, 2 detachable pulleys, and a stretch cord. Barrier string sold separately.What is a barrier? One end of the breakaway barrier is attached to the steer and stretched across the open end of the header's box. When the steer reaches his advantage point, (distance set by the association rules measured in feet away from the chute) the barrier is released, and the header takes off in pursuit, with the heeler trailing slightly further behind. The ropers are assessed a 10-second penalty if the header breaks the barrier before the steer completes his head start. Some rodeos use heeler barriers too.
