The Reinsman Argentine Smooth Copper Snaffle Shank Bit is a great option for riders who need more control when transitioning from a snaffle bit. This Stage B bit has low leverage and comes with 6 inch stainless steel cheek shanks that provide curb pressure. The 3/8 inch smooth copper mouthpiece naturally encourages salivation for the horse, which relaxes the horse's jaw and promotes a supple mouth response. The snaffle mouthpiece features a forward curve called Mullen relief, which helps distribute pressure evenly across the bars and tongue. Adding a leather, nylon, or biothane curb strap to the top ring where the headstall is fastened is recommended to prevent the bit from rotating.  Don't forget to shop our curb strap collection here at NRS to pair with your new bit!  The tear drop rings at the bottom of the shanks make it easy to attach a variety of reins for any discipline. The Reinsman Argentine Sweet Iron Smooth Snaffle Shank Bit is identified using the product style number BIT 424 and comes with a lifetime warranty.

Reinsman Bit Stages

Stage A= These bits are great for starting horses, training, or maintaining steady contact. Aspects include direct reining, non-leverage Loose Rings and Dee Rings with mouthpiece diameters 5/16” and over.

Stage B =Moving from Direct Reining to Neck Reining? Stage B is all about transition, with the introduction of leverage and curb pressure. Short Shanked bits and Half-Gags comprise Stage B.

Stage C =Horses who respond well to poll pressure are in Stage C. Features include solid mouthpieces and cheek attachments, and swivel cheeks with jointed mouthpieces or low to medium ports

Stage D =Stage D is about refinement, subtle cues and quick communication. Characteristics include increased leverage, more sophisticated mouthpieces, and may also incorporate higher ports.

Stage E =When your horse enters Stage E – he’s asking for some time with the Pros. Here tiny twists, very high ports, and highly complex mouthpieces are key components
